Terms of Use

These terms describe what you're agreeing to by using Walking in Wisdom. We've tried to write them in plain language rather than dense legal text. Walking in Wisdom is currently a pilot, and these terms will be revisited as the product develops.

If you are in crisis

Walking in Wisdom is not a crisis or emergency service and cannot respond in real time. If you or someone else is in danger, or you are having thoughts of harming yourself or someone else, contact your local emergency number immediately (for example 911 in the US, 999 in the UK, 000 in Australia, 112 in the EU), or reach a crisis line wherever you are via findahelpline.com. Please don't wait for or rely on an answer from this app in an emergency.

What this is, and what it is not

Walking in Wisdom gives AI-generated answers grounded in Scripture and a council-approved library of faith-led writing. It is a tool for exploring questions about faith, not a substitute for a pastor, counsellor, doctor, therapist, or any other professional. It does not provide medical, legal, financial, or crisis-intervention advice, and nothing in an answer should be treated as such.

Accounts

You need an account to use the chat and reading-notes features. You sign in with your email address using a magic link or a one-time code; we don't use passwords.
You're responsible for keeping access to your own email account secure, since that's how sign-in works.
Provide accurate information when asked (for example, broad location on signup). Don't create an account on someone else's behalf without their knowledge.

Acceptable use

Please don't use Walking in Wisdom to:

Attempt to extract, scrape, or reproduce the library's content wholesale, or to circumvent the attribution and excerpt limits the system enforces.
Harass, abuse, or attempt to manipulate the system into producing harmful, hateful, or abusive content.
Interfere with the normal operation of the service, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to accounts, data, or infrastructure that isn't yours.
Use the service for anything unlawful.

We may suspend or remove access for accounts that misuse the service.

AI-generated answers

Answers are generated by an AI model, grounded only in Scripture and approved library material retrieved for your specific question, with an automated check that verifies quoted excerpts against the source before they reach you. Even so, an AI system can misinterpret a question, misattribute context, or otherwise get something wrong. We ask that you treat every answer as a starting point for your own reflection and, where it matters, for conversation with a pastor, mentor, or trusted community, not as a final or authoritative word.

Where two approved works or traditions read a passage differently, we aim to say so rather than present one reading as the only one.

Library content and attribution

Public-domain works aside, material in the library is included with the author's consent and remains that author's or publisher's work. Quoted excerpts are kept short and are always attributed to their source. You should not copy, redistribute, or repurpose library excerpts beyond what a reasonable reader would do with a quotation shared in ordinary conversation.

Your content

Your conversations and reading notes belong to you. We store them so you can return to them, and so the system can maintain continuity within a conversation. See our privacy policy for what's stored, why, and who can see it.

Service availability

This is a pilot. Features may change, break, or be temporarily unavailable while we build and test. We'll try to avoid losing your data when that happens, but we can't yet guarantee the uptime or stability of a mature product.

No warranty, and limitation of liability

Walking in Wisdom is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including that it will be accurate, complete, uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose. As explained above, AI-generated answers can be wrong, incomplete, or misapplied to your situation, even when grounded in the sources we describe.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Walking in Wisdom, its operators, contributing authors, and the Leadership Council will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, opportunity, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of, or inability to use, the service, or any decision made or action taken in reliance on an answer it gives, including decisions about spiritual, personal, relational, medical, legal, or financial matters. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount, if any, you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.

Nothing in this section limits liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the product develops. If we make a change that meaningfully affects how the service works or what you're agreeing to, we'll aim to make that visible rather than update this page silently.
